Philips explains that some fine coffee powder can fall inside a machine and under the brew group.
Start with the documented cleaning and inspection steps for your exact EP model before ordering an entire replacement assembly.
Let the mechanism stop before removal
The Philips troubleshooting article tells users to switch the machine off and wait until it has stopped making noise before removing the brew group. Do not pull on a mechanism that is still moving. Follow the service-door and release instructions in the machine manual.
For the models covered by that article, Philips describes a lukewarm-water rinse followed by air drying. It also identifies HD5061 as the brew-group grease. Use the locations and quantity shown in the applicable instructions; grease is not a general cleaner to spread through the coffee path.
Treat the components independently
A removable brew group, the grounds bin, the drip tray and a milk container need different attention. The EP5447/90 specification confirms a removable group and LatteGo, while Philips’ general maintenance article separates procedures for LatteGo, classic frothers and carafes.
A schedule for one milk system should not be copied onto another just because both machines make cappuccino. Check that the article’s model list or the manual covers your machine before using its interval.
When to ask for service
A broken latch, a group that will not seat, or symptoms remaining after the permitted care steps need diagnosis. Keep the exact model, error message and a photograph of the affected component. Forcing the group or buying a similar-looking part can introduce a second problem.
